Part 2 of an interview with legendary high school distance coach Carol McLatchie.

Coach Carol McLatchie is best known, along with her husband and co-coach Jim McLatchie, for having coached the nationally ranked Summit High School (Bend, OR) girls cross country team to a Nike Cross Nationals win in 2018. That same year, she and Jim were named Girls High School Cross Country Coaches of the year. Under their guidance, the girls team won eight Oregon State Cross Country Championship titles, while their boys team won five.

Carol was a nationally and internationally ranked distance runner in the late 70's and 80's. As a masters runner, she continued to run and win at a national level. She has been very involved with USATF in promoting and supporting women's distance running.

Her story from a Kansas farm girl to an Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier is both fascinating and important.
